IPSEN LOGISTICS has successfully handled another strategic project in Algeria, thus exceeding the 100 industrial projects handled locally.

It’s the MTBE project « Methyl Tertiary Butyl Ether Project », for the EPC “JV CHINA NATIONAL TECHNICAL IMPORT & EXPORT CORPORATION with SINOPEC LUOYANG ENGINEERING CO., LTD.”The project is owned by Sonatrach and is located within the Arzew Petrochimical area.Our scope of work is mainly the On shore services : customs clearance, the inland transport, the reception under hook, the civil works for the heavy & oversized packages requiring road modification… however we have supported the EPC during many months before starting the shipments in order to explain the Importation process in Algeria under it’s appropriate law and advantages, the shipping documentation requirements, the port solutions…Many important shipments were handled on Door to Door Basis with the cooperation of our reliable overseas partners.

The shipments include containers, airfreight, bulk cargo and heavy & oversized packages.The most challenging parcel was a 245 MT tower measuring 68.2 x 7.2 x 7.45 meters handled using a 42-axle modular hydraulic trailer received at the beginning of 2025. This parcel is the largest package ever received in terms of length in the area.

Despite the short distance between the Port and the Jobsite, the operation required a very high level of expertiseThe operation was carried out after a complexe engineering study done by IPSEN LOGISTICS to determine the appropriate transport mean and the most economical solution for the transportation of this parcel, and the existing obstacles on the route from the port to the final location of the parcel.

We coordinate this operation with all the involved local parties and authorities, and we could realise this operation by overcoming significant obstacles (even inside the petrochemical area), including removing walls, pylons, and roundabouts, and constructing bypasses to allow the transport of this important parcelThe project is still Ongoing, and IPSEN LOGISTICS is always ready for more challenges!
